About Swami Vivekananda
Swami Vivekananda was born in an Indian Hindu family. He was born in Kolkata on 12 January 1863. Father’s name is Vishwanath Datta and mother’s name, Bhuvaneshwari Devi. He was a Chief disciple of 19th century Indian mystic Ramakrishna.

Swami Vivekananda’s Ramakrishna Missions
We already said that Swami Vivekananda was influenced by his guru Ramakrishna. In 1881, Vivekananda met Ramakrishna first time. In 1882, Vivekananda meets Ramkrishna with his friends. This meeting was the turning point of his life. In 1885, Ramakrishna was died because of throat cancer.
After the death of Ramakrishna, Vivekananda decides to convert the dilapidated house at Baranagar. Narendra and other disciples used to spend many hours practicing meditation and religious austerities every day.
