Step By Step Guide: Install React js in Windows 7, 8 & Windows 10

Actually, the procedure is same for all Windows operating systems. I don’t recommend CMD to install react.js because with the help of code editors such as “Visual Studio Code”, you can simply the work.

The first step is, you have to download and install Node.js on your Windows Operating System. Visit the “Node.js” website and click the LTS option because it is recommended for most users. When you click the button the download will be stared automatically.

For your reference, I have attached the screenshot of the Node.js website. Once you have downloaded the installer then run the installer click “Next” continously to finish the installation. Yes, you don’t have to change anything in installer.

The second step is, download and install the Visual Studio Code. You can install React.js anywhere on the hard disk. I don’t recommend “C” disk so create a new folder in any other disk and open the Visual Studio Code.

In Visual Studio, Click “File->Open Folder” and choose the folder you want to install React.js. The run the below command on terminal. By default, Powershell is the terminal but you change that to “Command Prompt”.

npm install -g create-react-app

After successfull installation of create-react-app, you can create your first project using the below command. For example, I have used the first-project as a name. You can use anyname for your project.

create-react-app awesome-project

That’s it. You have successfully installed React.js in Windows 7,8, and 10. To run the project, navigate to the project and run this command “npm start”. After that, you can access the application using this URL.
