The Most Anticipated Movies For 2023

2022 was a fantastic year for films however 2023 is unquestionably going to give it a run for its money. In 2023, we’ll have new films from Martin Scorsese, Greta Gerwig, Steve McQueen, Michael Mann, Ben Affleck, David Fincher, Francis Ford Coppola, Ridley Scott, Sofia Coppola, and very likely, two films from Wes Anderson and Yorgos Lanthimos. 

2023 is also going to see the continuation of some major franchises, like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Dune: Part Two, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning (Part One), Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and an absurd amount more.

Here are some of our most anticipated movies.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 

Still spinning from the loss of Gamora, Peter Quill gathers his team to defend the universe and one of their own – a task which could mean the end of the Guardians if not successful.

M3GAN 

Toymaker Gemma give her lonely niece, Cady, a realistic prototype doll, M3gan, in order to help fill a void following the death of her parents. When M3gan’s ordered to make sure that no harm comes Cady’s way, she takes the instruction a little bit too seriously.

If you haven’t yet seen the memes yet of the dancing controlling killer doll, you’re missing out. Labelled as “Annabelle meets the Terminator” by producer James Wan (“Malignant”), we’re predicting M3gan to be the next big horror icon.

Magic Mike’s Last Dance

Around eight years after “Magic Mike XXL” was released, Steven Soderbergh will finish the “Magic Mike” trilogy with “Magic Mike’s Last Dance”. Channing Tatum will return in his role as “Magic” Mike Lane for the last time as Mike starts a relationship with an older woman (Salma Hayek Pinault) who inspires him to take his act abroad to London, where he needs to find new dancers and build a show from the ground up.

Napoleon

After bringing his own take on “Rashomon” with “The Last Duel,” director Ridley Scott is coming back with another historical drama that features a very messy marriage. Even better, he is uniting with “Gladiator” star Joaquin Phoenix, again adorning his head with an emperor’s laurel-wreath crown as the two start on “Napoleon.” 

Rise-and-fall stories are Hollywood gold and a couple of historical figures have risen so high and fallen so hard as Napoleon Bonaparte, who ascended as the ruler of an empire on the back of his military expertise, only to later lose thousands of soldiers in a failed invasion of Russia, ultimately dying in exile himself a number of years later.

Shotgun Wedding

Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel play a couple in this romantic action-comedy whose destination wedding is hijacked by pirates. The two spend their wedding day fighting their way back to the altar, giving new meaning to ‘til death do us part. It’s as action packed and exciting as a session at Big Dollar and the star power factor is an undeniable drawcard. 

John Wick: Chapter 4 

John Wick discovers a path to defeating The High Table. However before he can earn his freedom, Wick needs to face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the world and forces that turn old friends into enemies.
