What is OBC Certificate?
Other Backward Class Certificate is an abbreviation of OBC Certificate. Actually, there are two types of OBC Certificate is available. Those are,
- Creamy Layer
- Non-Creamy Layer
What is Creamy Layer?
If your total family income is more than Rs.8 Lakhs then you will fall under creamy layer which means you won’t get any OBC benefits.
What is Non-Creamy Layer?
If your total family income is less than Rs.8 Lakhs then you will fall under the Non-Creamy layer which means you will get OBC benefits.
Apply OBC Certificate Online in Tamilnadu
I hope you have successfully registered into the Tnesevai website and created the CAN number. The first step is login to the Tnesevai website.
Once you have successfully logged into the Tnesevai website, you will be redirected to the dashboard where you have to click the “Revenue Department” link.
On the Revenue Department page, all services will be listed out. Change the dropdown box value from 10 to 25. You can find the “REV-115 Other Backward Classes(OBC) Certificate“. Click that.
Now you will be redirected to the instructions page. Read out the instructions carefully and proceed further.
You will be redirected to the CAN Number page where you have to search your CAN number or need to create a CAN number. Search your CAN number and verify it with OTP then proceed further.
Now you have to fill up the obc certificate application form. Most of the details are prefilled with the help of CAN number. You have to fill-up the below details.
- Caste
- Serial Number of the Caste in Central List of OBCs
Status of Father/Husband
- Whether Alive
- Nature of Occupation
- Designation
- Status
- Pay Scale
Status of Mother
- Whether Alive

Finally, upload all the required documents in proper format and submit the application. You have to make the payment of Rs.60 using debit/credit card or netbanking. You will get an acknowledgment receipt. With the help of acknowledgment receipt, you can track your application status.
